The Baptist Community in Central Africa, CBCA for short, is a church that grew out of the American missionary work of the Unevangelized Mission in Africa" (UAM) in 1927. The UAM ceded its mission field to the Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society (CBFMS) in 1946. Later, in 1957, the CBFMS became "Mission Baptiste au Kivu" MBK (Baptist Mission in Kivu. The demand of the indigenous people for good quality education among the youth and participatory church management by the indigenous people divided the church into two groups in 1959.
The new church obtained the civil personality on 12.06.1964, by presidential order number 170, under the name of "Eglise Protestante Baptiste au Kivu" (EPBK) before becoming later a member of the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC), under the name "Communauté Baptiste au KIVU (CBK). Because of its extension inside and outside the country the name of the church was changed to "Communauté Baptiste au Centre de l'Afrique" (CBCA). This church is also member of other church groups around the world.
